Which mouthpieces work with Légère reeds?Updated 2 months ago

Légère reeds are designed to fit and work with virtually all standard mouthpieces for their instrument.

Whether you play on an orchestral clarinet mouthpiece, a jazz saxophone mouthpiece with a high baffle, or anything in between, you should find that Légère reeds fit the reed table and lay correctly. We intentionally do not endorse specific mouthpiece brands or models because every player’s setup is unique.

In general, if a mouthpiece works well with cane reeds, it will work equally well with Légère reeds of the appropriate cut and strength.

For the best experience, match the cut of the Légère reed to your mouthpiece and genre. For instance, a classical clarinet mouthpiece might pair excellently with a European Cut Signature Légère, whereas a jazz clarinet mouthpiece might shine with a Signature cut. Experimentation is key: try different Légère cuts/strengths on your mouthpiece to see what sound you prefer.

If you’re unsure where to start, look for a Légère Endorsing Artist or a respected player who has a similar setup – see what mouthpiece and Légère reed combination they use.

Often, artists share their equipment details on our website or social media (look for the hashtag #LegereArtist). That can provide a helpful reference. But ultimately, trust your own ears and feel. The good news is Légère reeds are very consistent, so once you find a combo you like, you can stick with it without the variability of cane.
