How should I position and secure a Légère reed on the mouthpiece?Updated 2 months ago

Place the Légère reed on your mouthpiece just as you would a cane reed. Align the tip of the reed precisely with the tip of the mouthpiece for optimal response and tone production.

Use your ligature to secure it firmly but not excessively tight. Because Légère reeds are a bit slicker than cane, ensure the ligature is snug so the reed doesn’t slip during play. If you experience squeaks or chirps, double-check the alignment – even a slight misalignment (too high or too low on the mouthpiece) can affect response. The reed’s “table” (flat side) should seal against the mouthpiece facing; if placement is correct, the reed will vibrate freely and give a clear sound.
