No soaking needed! Légère reeds do not require moisture to play. They are designed to play instantly, just like a cane reed that’s been pre-moistened. 

In fact, you can take a Légère reed straight out of its case and onto your mouthpiece, and it will respond with a full sound immediately. There’s also no “break-in” process as you might do with cane (where you play for a few minutes, rest the reed, gradually increasing usage). With Légère, after a minute or two of playing to “warm it up,” the reed will settle in and perform consistently. 

Some players do find that a short initial playing period helps the reed speak its best, but you don’t need days of break-in. Essentially, after a quick warm-up, you’re good to go.
